A warrior thief gets more than he bargained for when he enters a great treasury to plunder its riches. There he finds a lamp holding an evil older than the ancient desert of Al-Ghoud itself. Sand people call this demon the Djinn, able to twist the wishes of men in perverted fashion. Soon Vannon finds himself battling black riders, the Djinn, and using his wits to save his men.

This is a short story of Vannon the plainsman, a warrior seeking vengeance against the murderers of his people.

Vannon and the Djinn The Adventures of Vannon Book 2 eBook CT Sanner

"Vannon and the Djinn" is a fantasy short story and the second release in the "Vannon" series by author C.T. Sanner. The tale follows the continuing adventures of a warrior thief named Vannon. Enslaved, trained and raised as an arena gladiator, Vannon is now free. Commanding his own band of mercenaries, Vannon travels the land in search of adventure, riches, fame and most importantly revenge. In this tale, Vannon infiltrates the treasury of a great Northern king and pilfers a mysterious lamp containing powerful and malevolent Djinn. Here are my thoughts on Vannon and the Djinn;

Pros

+ Accomplished writing and editing.

+ Gritty setting.

+ Plenty of action.

+ Interesting characters.

Cons <Contains SPOILERS>

- The wizard Croster just lets Vannon and his mercenaries walk away after the Djinn is defeated? Vannon just stole the most precious item in the treasury!

- Vannon's defeat of the Djinn was too simplistic. Remember Conan the Destroyer when Conan defeats the demon by smashing mirrors? This is pretty much the same thing.

- No map. Author mentions several places in the story, all of which really have no meaning to the reader without a frame of reference.

Despite a few questionable plot points "Vannon and the Djinn" was a fun and enjoyable but short fantasy tale. Now that Vannon has become an adult I'm finding his character and adventures much more interesting to read. As with the previous installment in this series I found this tale to be well written, edited and even more enjoyable. Vannon's story continues to intrigue me and I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's works.
